Our mission is to cultivate a sustainable mindset in youth by fostering a sense of belonging through creative storytelling, outdoor activities, interactive workshops and skill-based training programs.

What We Do
Creative Storytelling and Art from Waste
We make illustrations, animations and art from plastic waste to employ storytelling and make climate communications easy-to-understand and relatable.
Outdoor Activities and Community Cleanups
We organize outdoor activities such as lake and park cleanups and SDG walk to engage youth in experiencing a sense of environmental consciousness and the beauty of nature.
Skill-based Training Programs
We aim to provide skill-based training programs to equip youth with green skills to promote green innovation and green jobs.

Stories
Hawassa Lake Cleanup
Akababinet co-organized and participated in a lake cleanup, contributing to the removal of over 1,500 kg of plastic waste from the shores and surrounding areas of Lake Hawassa, with the support of 57 volunteers.
Akababinet was selected among the top 100 youth-led projects highlighting climate education at the Youth4Climate Sparking Solutions Event in Rome.
Akababinet participated in the “Launch of Climate Week in the Lead-Up to COP 29” at the Sheraton Addis, facilitated by Ministry of Planning and Development Ethiopia and UNICEF Ethiopia.
Akababinet won the first place winner award at the Young African Leadership Initiative Regional Leadership Center of East Africa.
